Prohibitory Orders Imposed in Cyberabad Ahead of Municipal Indirect Polls

Prohibitory orders imposed in Cyberabad under Section 163 BNSS ahead of municipal indirect elections on February 16 to enforce the Model Code of Conduct.

Ahead of the municipal indirect elections scheduled on February 16, Cyberabad Police have imposed prohibitory orders in select areas to ensure strict implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Orders Issued Under Section 163 BNSS

The prohibitory orders were issued by T. Sai Manohar, Deputy Commissioner of Police and in-charge of Quthbullapur Zone, under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

Under these orders:

  • Gatherings of more than four persons are prohibited
  • Applies to public and private places
  • Prior permission from the competent authority is mandatory

Areas Where Restrictions Are in Force

The prohibitory orders are applicable in the following areas of Cyberabad:

  • Yellampet Municipality (Medchal Police Station limits)
  • Aliyabad Municipality
  • Kolutur village, under Muduchinthalapally Municipality (Genome Valley Police Station limits)

Objective of the Restrictions

Police officials said the move is aimed at:

  • Preventing unauthorised gatherings and camps
  • Avoiding violations of the Model Code of Conduct
  • Maintaining law and order during the election period

Authorities warned that strict action will be taken against violators. Immediate notices will be issued in case of MCC violations, in line with election laws and declarations submitted by candidates.

Duration of Prohibitory Orders

  • Effective from: 5:00 AM on February 13
  • Valid till: 12:00 PM on February 16

The restrictions will remain in place until the completion of the indirect elections to the Chairpersons and Vice-Chairpersons of municipalities.

The Cyberabad Police have appealed to citizens and political representatives to cooperate with enforcement agencies and adhere to the prohibitory orders to ensure free, fair, and peaceful municipal indirect polls.
