15 Tolas of Gold Stolen from Woman’s Bag on RTC Bus in Andhra Pradesh

Kadapa: Panic gripped passengers aboard an APSRTC bus in Andhra Pradesh’s YSR Kadapa district after 15 tolas of gold ornaments were allegedly stolen from a woman’s handbag during the journey.
According to the victim and police officials, the woman, identified as Sridevi, was travelling to Kadapa via Proddatur and Kogatam. She boarded the bus at Kamalapuram. The incident reportedly took place when the bus was near the Papagni river stretch.
Police said that Sridevi took out her Aadhaar card from her handbag to show it to the conductor. During that brief moment, unidentified miscreants allegedly took advantage of the situation and stealthily removed gold jewellery weighing 15 tolas from her bag.

The theft came to light shortly, thereafter, prompting Sridevi to raise an alarm inside the bus. On realising the seriousness of the situation, the bus driver acted swiftly and turned the vehicle back to the Kamalapuram Police Station.
Police personnel immediately intervened, asking all passengers to alight from the bus and conducted a thorough search of their belongings. However, the stolen gold ornaments could not be recovered.
A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the culprits. Police have advised the public to remain vigilant and take extra care of their valuables while travelling in crowded public transport vehicles.
