Hyderabad: Hyderabad witnessed an energetic start to Sunday as more than 4,200 participants took part in the second edition of Mindspace EcoRun 2.0 at Mindspace Madhapur. Organised by Mindspace REIT in association with Mirchi, the sustainability-themed marathon combined fitness, community engagement and environmental responsibility.

The event featured 5K, 10K and 21K categories, attracting seasoned runners, first-time participants, families and corporate teams from across the city. While the 21K half marathon and 10K runs were open to participants aged 18 and above, the 5K category welcomed runners aged 8 years and above, making it an inclusive sporting celebration.

Celebrities including Divi Vadthya, Harsh Roshan and Sridevi Apalla attended the event and flagged off the run, while Mirchi RJs kept the atmosphere lively throughout the morning.

A key highlight of the marathon was its eco-conscious approach. Participants received plantable bibs and organic jerseys, while refillable hydration stations and biodegradable cutlery were used to minimise single-use plastics. Organisers also implemented responsible waste management practices to reduce the environmental footprint of the event.

Ahead of race day, a two-day EcoRun Expo held on February 20 and 21 featured a Sustainability Flea Market. The initiative showcased eco-friendly products and created livelihood opportunities for specially-abled individuals and women from underprivileged communities in partnership with NGO Nirmaan.

Shrawan Kumar Gone, COO – K Raheja Corp (AP & Telangana), said the initiative reflects the organisation’s continued commitment to embedding sustainability into its developments and community engagement efforts.

In a notable initiative, the waste collected during the event will be upcycled into functional chairs and donated to schoolchildren associated with the NGO partner.

Now in its second year, Mindspace EcoRun continues to strengthen Hyderabad’s growing movement toward community wellness and sustainability-led action. The flagship marathon will also be hosted in Mumbai as part of its multi-city initiative.
