National Science Day 2026 Celebrated at MJCET with Focus on Quantum Innovation

Dr. Mahipal Singh Rawat emphasized MJCET’s commitment to fostering a sustainable, research-oriented academic ecosystem and reaffirmed institutional support for scientific advancement and innovation.

Hyderabad: The Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology (MJCET) celebrated National Science Day 2026 with the theme “From Curiosity to Quantum: Inspiring the Engineers of Tomorrow.” The event was organized by the Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities and featured an expert talk on “Quantum Technologies” delivered by Dr. M. Sree Ramana, Scientist, RCI, Hyderabad.

The programme was graced by the presence of Dr. Mahipal Singh Rawat, Advisor-cum-Director; Dr. S. Srinivasa Rao, Principal; Prof. Hamraj, Dean Academics; *Prof. Syed Ferhatullah Hussaini, Dean, Student Affairs; K. V. Narsimha Rao, Registrar; and Prof. Abdul Majeed, Head of the Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities. Coordinators of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English were also present.

The event began with an address by Prof. Abdul Majeed, who highlighted the department’s academic achievements and research contributions.


Dr. Mahipal Singh Rawat emphasized MJCET’s commitment to fostering a sustainable, research-oriented academic ecosystem and reaffirmed institutional support for scientific advancement and innovation.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. S. Srinivasa Rao underscored the importance of promoting scientific inquiry free from gender bias and recognized the significant role of women in national development. Reinforcing this perspective, Prof. Hemraj referred to the institution’s guiding principle, the “We Enable” mantra, which advocates a gender-inclusive approach to research and innovation.

Prof. Syed Farhatullah Hussaini encouraged students to strengthen their foundations in the basic sciences, noting that conceptual clarity is essential for becoming capable and accomplished engineers.

In his keynote lecture, Dr. M. Sree Ramana provided deep insights into the rapidly evolving field of quantum technologies. He discussed ongoing global research, explained future career opportunities in quantum engineering, and inspired students with reflections on perseverance, creativity, and the idea that “Nature is our Guru.” His session received enthusiastic appreciation from both faculty and students.

To mark the occasion, the Orators’ Club of the Department of English organized two literary competitions—Elocution and Essay Writing—on the themes “Gender Gap in STEM: Challenges and Solutions” and “When Technology Took a Turn.” Student participation added vibrancy to the celebration. Dr. Sree Ramana distributed prizes and certificates to the winners.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Gitasri Mukherjee of the Department of English, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. V. Shanthi, Coordinator, Department of Chemistry.

The National Science Day celebration at MJCET concluded on an inspiring note, reaffirming the institution’s dedication to nurturing scientific curiosity and motivating future engineers to pursue innovation with determination and purpose.
