Stalls selling attar (perfumes), prayer caps, prayer mats, and rosaries are also drawing large crowds. Traders say that business activity has already increased significantly even before the peak Ramzan days, bringing a sense of optimism to the market.

Hyderabad: Heavy traffic congestion has been reported around Charminar and its surrounding areas as thousands of people flock to the Old City for Ramzan shopping combined with the weekend rush. Vehicle movement has slowed significantly as large numbers of shoppers and visitors continue to arrive in the historic market areas.
According to traffic authorities, congestion has been observed in and around key stretches including Khilwath, Chowmahalla Palace, Lad Bazaar, Chelapura, Afzalgunj towards Madina and Gulzar Houz. Due to the heavy footfall and vehicle inflow, traffic movement in these areas has become extremely slow.
The markets around Charminar have been witnessing vibrant activity throughout the day, creating a festive atmosphere. For visitors, Charminar is not only a historic monument but also the heart of Ramzan celebrations in Hyderabad, where preparations for the holy month are clearly visible.
The famous Lad Bazaar, located beside Charminar, is globally known for its traditional bangles and jewelry. Shopkeepers have introduced new Ramzan-themed bangle designs, zari-embroidered dupattas, and elegant garments to attract customers. Shops located under the historic arches of Pathergatti and near Charminar are witnessing an exceptional rush.
Stalls selling attar (perfumes), prayer caps, prayer mats, and rosaries are also drawing large crowds. Traders say that business activity has already increased significantly even before the peak Ramzan days, bringing a sense of optimism to the market.
Scenes of people purchasing spices, dry fruits, and other essential items for iftar meals are also common across the markets. Along with large shopping complexes, traditional roadside stalls on footpaths are attracting customers with affordable and quality products.
Managing traffic in these densely crowded areas has become a major challenge for authorities. Hyderabad Traffic Police have deployed additional personnel and designated certain stretches as pedestrian-only zones to facilitate smooth movement for shoppers.
As night falls and the entire area lights up with decorative illumination, the Old City transforms into a vibrant spectacle. Residents say that Ramzan shopping under the shadow of Charminar is a unique cultural and spiritual experience that has been a cherished part of Hyderabad’s heritage for centuries.
