Hyderabad: The Sri Mahavir Jain Seva Sangh has announced that the 2625th birth anniversary of Mahavira will be celebrated with grandeur on March 31, 2026, in the city.
At a press conference held at Deshoddharaka Bhavan, members of the organising committee said the main event will take place at Imperial Gardens, with large participation expected from Jain devotees across Telangana.
As part of the celebrations, a grand spiritual procession, or “Vargoda”, will begin at 9 a.m. from Tadban Hanuman Temple. The procession will feature a decorated chariot carrying an idol of Bhagwan Mahavir and will culminate at Imperial Gardens.
A “Dharma Sabha” (spiritual assembly) will follow at 10 a.m., where Jain monks and nuns will deliver discourses and offer prayers. The organisers said the event will emphasise the core teachings of Mahavir, including non-violence, truth, non-stealing, celibacy, and non-possession.
The programme will also include cultural and spiritual activities, along with the distribution of prasad and refreshments through stalls set up by various Jain organisations.
Organisers have appealed to the public to participate in large numbers and make the celebrations a success.
