West Asia War Fuel Crisis Impact on India
The Prime Minister stressed that the West Asia war fuel crisis is directly affecting India’s energy security:
- Petrol, diesel, and gas supply chains are under pressure
- Disruptions in shipping routes, especially near the Strait of Hormuz
- Increased global fuel prices due to instability
He warned that politicizing such a serious issue could harm the interests of 1.4 billion Indians.
“This is not the time for politics. It is a matter of national interest,” Modi emphasized.
Shipping Disruptions and Energy Concerns
The Strait of Hormuz—a crucial global oil transit route—has seen disruptions due to the ongoing conflict. This has made transportation of crude oil and gas increasingly difficult, intensifying the global fuel crisis.
India, which depends heavily on imports from this region, is closely monitoring the situation and taking proactive steps to ensure energy security.
Indians Evacuated Safely from Conflict Zones
Modi revealed that:
- Over 375,000 Indians have been safely evacuated so far
- Around 1,000 Indians returned from Iran, including over 700 medical students
- Gulf countries have extended strong support to Indian nationals
He also thanked Gulf nations for assisting more than 10 million Indians living and working there.
Government Measures to Tackle Fuel Crisis
To address the West Asia war fuel crisis, the Indian government has taken several key measures:
- Priority supply for domestic LPG consumers
- Maintenance of strategic petroleum reserves exceeding 5.3 million tonnes
- Continuous efforts to stabilize fuel availability
Appeal to Citizens: Stay United, Avoid Rumours
The Prime Minister urged citizens to rely only on official information and avoid misinformation.
- Do not spread rumours
