Eight people died in three separate road accidents in Telangana on Wednesday, officials said.

Hyderabad: Eight people died in three separate road accidents in Telangana on Wednesday, officials said.

Three people, including two engineering students, were killed in a road accident at Hastinapuram in Hyderabad in the early hours of Wednesday. The accident occurred on Nagarjuna Sagar highway when a speeding car lost control and rammed into a two-wheeler and a pedestrian.

Two B.Tech students who were riding the motorbike were killed. They have been identified as Shiva and Sandeep, both second-year ECE students of Mahaveer Engineering College. Another youth, a pedestrian, was also killed in the accident. After hitting the bike and the pedestrian, the car overturned.

Other students of the engineering college staged a protest by squatting on the road following the accident. They demanded police hand over the car driver to them, alleging the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

The protest led to a traffic jam on the busy road. Police tried to disperse the protestors, triggering a tense situation. Vanasthalipuram Police Station, under the limits of Rachakonda Commissionerate, registered a case and took up the investigation.

In another accident, three youngsters were killed when a motorbike they were riding rammed into a stationary lorry in Kamareddy district. The accident occurred near Menuru in Madnoor mandal. The deceased were identified as Sachin, Ashok and Nagnath.

According to police, Ashok died on the spot, while Nagnath and Sachin succumbed while being shifted to a hospital in Banswada. Police registered a case and took up the investigation.

Two people belonging to a family were killed, and 10 others were injured in another road accident that occurred in Suryapet district. According to police, a DCM vehicle rammed into a Bolero from the rear. The accident occurred near Jagannaik Tanda in Chivvemla mandal.

The deceased were identified as Satish and Narasimha Rao. The injured were admitted to a hospital. The family was on their way to a temple when the accident occurred.
