In a major breakthrough in the Hyderabad UT prisoner escape case, the Commissioner’s Task Force, Charminar Zone team along with Hussaini Alam Police Station successfully apprehended Ghantasala Triveni (26), who had escaped from police custody during a medical checkup at Government Maternity Hospital, Petlaburj, Hyderabad.

The accused, a UT prisoner (Under Trial) bearing No. 6406, was earlier lodged in Chanchalguda Women Jail and is involved in Crime No. 34/2026 under Sections 303(2) and 318(4) of BNS of Ramgopalpet Police Station.
How the Hyderabad UT Prisoner Escape Happened
According to police officials, the incident occurred on 13-04-2026 at around 11:00 AM, when escort police constables had taken Ghantasala Triveni to the hospital for treatment.
Key details of the escape:
- The prisoner escaped from the hospital premises while still wearing handcuffs
- Immediate search operations were conducted in and around the hospital
- Despite efforts, she initially managed to evade police
Following the incident, a case was registered at Hussaini Alam Police Station under Cr.No. 115/2026, U/s 262 BNS.
Escape Route: Secunderabad to Vijayawada to Bhimavaram
During the investigation, police analyzed CCTV footage from hospitals, bus stations, and railway stations, revealing a detailed escape trail:
- The accused reached Secunderabad Railway Station
- Boarded the Shatavahana Express train
- Used a co-passenger’s mobile phone to contact a relative
- Misled him by claiming she had been granted bail
- Was picked up at Vijayawada Railway Station
- Taken to Bhimavaram, her native place
Later, on 15-04-2026 evening, she returned to Hyderabad:
- Arrived at Secunderabad Railway Station
- Stayed at a women’s hostel in Dilsukh Nagar
- Traveled to Gachibowli Coffee Day by bus
Arrest at Gachibowli Coffee Day
Acting on technical surveillance and credible information, the Charminar Task Force Team along with Hussaini Alam Police tracked her movements and apprehended her at Coffee Day, Gachibowli.

- Handcuffs
After completing legal formalities, Ghantasala Triveni was produced before the Hon’ble Magistrate and remanded to judicial custody at Chanchalguda Central Jail.
