TGGENCO Declares Commercial Operation of YTPS Unit-3 at 800 MW in Nalgonda District

TGGENCO declared commercial operation of Unit#3 of the 5x800 MW Yadadri Thermal Power Station after generating 811.99 MW continuously for 72 hours.

Telangana Power Generation Corporation Limited successfully declared the commercial operation of Unit#3 of the 5×800 MW Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS) on May 13, 2026, after the unit continuously generated an average power of 811.99 MW for 72 hours against its rated capacity of 800 MW.

The Yadadri Thermal Power Station is being established at Veerlapalem Village in Damaracherla Mandal of Nalgonda District with a total installed capacity of 4000 MW.

YTPS Unit-3 Achieves Commercial Operation Declaration

TGGENCO announced that Unit#3 of the 5×800 MW YTPS successfully completed the Commercial Operation Declaration (COD) at 20:00 hrs on May 13, 2026.

The unit achieved the milestone after:

  • Operating continuously for 72 hours
  • Generating an average power output of 811.99 MW
  • Exceeding its rated capacity of 800 MW

The 72-hour operation was witnessed by officials from:

  • TGNPDCL
  • TGSPDCL
  • TGTRANSCO

The COD was declared in the presence of Dr. S. Harish.

Yadadri Thermal Power Station Details

The Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS) project consists of:

  • 5 units of 800 MW each
  • Total installed capacity of 4000 MW

The project is divided into:

Stage-I

  • 2 units of 800 MW each

Stage-II

  • 3 units of 800 MW each

TGGENCO stated that:

  • Unit#1
  • Unit#2
  • Unit#4

have already been commissioned and put into commercial operation before Unit#3.

TGGENCO stated that the milestone was achieved due to:
