Hyderabad: The Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub-Junior (U-15 & U-17) Ranking Badminton Tournament 2026 concluded successfully at the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad on Saturday. The prestigious national event, organized by the Badminton Association of Telangana, was held from May 29 to June 6 and witnessed participation from some of the country’s most promising young shuttlers.
In the Under-15 Boys’ Singles final, Aditya Singh Negi of Uttarakhand emerged champion after defeating Karnataka’s Gautham S. Nair 21-14, 21-08. Rajasthan’s Anvi Rathore clinched the Under-15 Girls’ Singles title with a hard-fought 18-21, 21-17, 21-13 victory over Telangana’s Hamsini Chadaram.
The Under-15 Mixed Doubles crown went to Liansangpuia (Mizoram) and Kimkim Khongsai (Nagaland), who defeated Karnataka pair Vishal Uthappa B.B. and Hansika Rakesh 21-10, 21-15. In Boys’ Doubles, Taabin Anuf Ahamed M.F. (Tamil Nadu) and Srichethan Shourya Samala (Telangana) secured the title by overcoming Karnataka’s Gautham S. Nair and Siddharth S. Nair 21-19, 21-17.
The Under-15 Girls’ Doubles title was won by Alexia Elsa Alexander (Kerala) and Jaya Saptha Sri M. (Tamil Nadu), who registered a comeback victory against Karnataka’s Hamsa Muralidhara and Mahitha Surisetty 22-24, 21-11, 21-18.
In the Under-17 category, Telangana’s Tanmainihal Uttam lifted the Boys’ Singles trophy after defeating Tamil Nadu’s Suhaas K.R. 16-21, 21-18, 21-15. Telangana continued its strong performance as Avni Vikram Govind won the Girls’ Singles title, beating fellow state player Hamsini Chadaram 21-17, 18-21, 21-14.
Tamil Nadu’s Kaveyugan K.A. and Anushkaa Jennifer A.S. claimed the Under-17 Mixed Doubles title with a 16-21, 21-07, 21-13 victory over Girivasan Saravana Kumar (Telangana) and Bhavishya Changmai (Assam).
The Boys’ Doubles title went to Tamil Nadu pair Shahid Ibrahim Peer Ahamed Buhari and Adhav Surya R.J., who defeated Vivaan Bisht (Delhi) and Shaurya Singh Rana (Uttarakhand) 21-17, 21-16.
In the Girls’ Doubles final, Uttarakhand duo Alisha Bhandari and Shubhangi Chaudhary emerged victorious after overcoming Tamil Nadu’s Anushkaa Jennifer A.S. and Dheeshitha Singha Gopinath Singh 21-17, 10-21, 21-14.
The closing ceremony was attended by Telangana Minister for IT, Electronics & Communications, Industries & Commerce and Legislative Affairs, Sri D. Sridhar Babu, who is also the President of the Badminton Association of Telangana. He was joined by Sri V. Chamundeswara Nath, Vice President of the Badminton Association of Telangana, and Sri Kanuri Vamsidhar, General Secretary of the Badminton Association of Hyderabad. The dignitaries felicitated the winners and runners-up and congratulated the young athletes for their outstanding performances throughout the tournament.
