Telangana Cabinet Approves First Phase of Musi Rejuvenation Project, Clears Major Welfare and Recruitment Decisions

Hyderabad: The Telangana Cabinet has approved the first phase of the ambitious Musi Rejuvenation Project despite strong opposition from various quarters. The first phase will cover nearly 21 kilometres of the river stretch at an estimated cost of Rs 7,345 crore.
According to the Cabinet decision, development works will be undertaken from Himayat Sagar to the confluence of the Esa River with the Musi River near Bapu Ghat, as well as from Osman Sagar. To ensure effective implementation and monitoring of the project, the government has sanctioned 147 new posts, with the provision to recruit additional staff if required.
Addressing the media after the Cabinet meeting, the Revenue Minister said that the state government has accepted the VB-Gram G Scheme. However, he added that certain conditions attached to the scheme are not acceptable to the state government, and it will approach the Supreme Court seeking appropriate legal relief.
In another significant decision, the Cabinet approved the extension of the government’s midday meal programme. Under the new policy, not only students up to Class XII but also nearly 1.5 lakh teachers, lecturers and other staff members in government educational institutions will be provided free lunch, milk and light refreshments.

The Cabinet also sanctioned 6,278 new posts for TIMS hospitals and the Warangal Super Speciality Hospital. The approved recruitment includes positions for hospitals located at Sanath Nagar, LB Nagar and Alwal. Additionally, the government decided to simplify the approval process for Letters of Credit (LOCs) issued under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for medical treatment.
The Cabinet further approved the allocation of land for the construction of government warehouses across the state. Under the decision, 50 acres at Bolikunta in Warangal and 10 acres at Kakarla Pahad in Rangareddy have been allotted to the State Warehousing Corporation.
To strengthen educational infrastructure, the government also approved the allocation of 20 acres at Peddapalli in Mahabubnagar and 19 acres at Kodad in Suryapet for the establishment of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas. In addition, five acres at Chilgal in Jagtial district have been sanctioned for setting up a Kendriya Vidyalaya.
