Former Director General of Police (Vigilance and Enforcement), J. Purnachandra Rao, IPS (Retd.), on Saturday urged students to draw inspiration from the lives of great leaders and social reformers who dedicated themselves to the upliftment of the underprivileged and nation-building.

He was addressing the Investiture Ceremony 2026–27 at Madina Schools, Himayathnagar, where the newly elected Student Council members were formally inducted.
The programme began with a welcome address by Secretary Sabiha Farzana and Director Maria Arifuddin, who received the chief guest.
In his address, Purnachandra Rao said true leadership is founded on values, integrity, compassion and selfless service to society. He called upon the newly elected student leaders to perform their responsibilities with honesty, discipline, dedication and commitment.
Encouraging students to emulate the ideals of eminent personalities, he highlighted the contributions of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, Savitribai Phule, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Sarojini Naidu, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Dr. Zakir Hussain, Mother Teresa, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, and Tipu Sultan, describing them as enduring role models whose lives continue to inspire generations.
He paid special tribute to Mother Teresa, stating that her lifelong service to the poor, abandoned, destitute and leprosy patients represented the highest ideals of compassion and humanitarianism.
“They worked tirelessly for the upliftment of the underprivileged and downtrodden sections of society and made invaluable contributions to nation-building. Their lives should serve as a guiding light for every student,” he said.
The retired IPS officer also urged students to cultivate discipline, humility, hard work and a strong sense of responsibility while striving for academic excellence and becoming responsible citizens committed to the welfare of society and the nation.
The ceremony concluded with the formal induction of the Student Council for the academic year 2026–27, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem, with students reaffirming their commitment to serving the nation with integrity, responsibility and compassion.
