Trainee IPS Uday Krishna Reddy Complains to Magistrate Against CP Sajjanar, Alleges Custodial Threats and Assault
Trainee IPS officer Uday Krishna Reddy has filed a complaint before the Uppal magistrate against senior police officer C.P. Sajjanar and other police personnel, alleging that he was subjected to abusive language, threats, physical assault and improper interrogation during police custody.

The complaint was submitted after Uday Krishna Reddy’s custody at the Attapur police station came to an end. Police personnel appeared before the magistrate following the completion of the custody period.
According to the allegations placed before the court, Uday claimed that CP Sajjanar threatened to “encounter” members of his family during interrogation. He also alleged that he was threatened with being eliminated and claimed that references were made to the possible targeting of lawyers.
Uday reportedly told the magistrate that he was taken to the Task Force office, where he alleged that he was tortured and beaten. He further alleged that the interrogation was conducted at a location without CCTV cameras, raising questions over compliance with procedures governing custodial interrogation.
The trainee IPS officer also alleged that Attapur police personnel behaved inappropriately and used abusive language against him. He has reportedly decided to submit complaints against the police officers who interrogated him during custody.

During the proceedings, Uday reportedly broke down in tears while narrating his allegations before the magistrate. His lawyers also questioned how retired ACP Purnachandra Rao was allowed to participate in the interrogation.
Uday and his advocates further alleged that threats were made against the lives and careers of 13 Telugu trainee IPS officers. They urged the magistrate to take note of the alleged conduct of the police officers involved.
Following the complaint, the magistrate directed that an explanation be submitted within two days and issued notices to the Attapur police. A show-cause notice was also reportedly issued to the Attapur inspector over the allegations concerning the manner in which the interrogation was conducted.
The magistrate’s intervention came after objections were raised during the proceedings, following which the judge reportedly directed everyone to leave the courtroom.
Uday Krishna Reddy has sought action against the police personnel named in his complaint and requested that the court examine the circumstances surrounding his custody and interrogation. The allegations made by Uday are yet to be independently established, and the police are expected to respond to the court’s notices.
