Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is under fire from netizens following the release of the trailer for his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par. The backlash stems from his delayed social media post acknowledging Operation Sindoor, a recent Indian Armed Forces strike against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

A Late Tribute to Operation Sindoor Sparks Outrage
On May 12, Aamir Khan Productions posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“Salute to the heroes of Operation Sindoor. Heartfelt gratitude to our armed forces for their courage, bravery, and unwavering commitment to the security of our nation. Thank you to the Honourable Prime Minister for his leadership and determination. Jai Hind.”
The post came just hours before the release of his movie trailer, prompting many to accuse the actor of using patriotism as a promotional tool.

Netizens Cry Foul, Call for Boycott
The internet erupted in criticism, with users accusing Aamir of staying silent until it benefited his movie release. One user commented:
“Because his movie’s trailer was going to release today, this is what the b@stard did yesterday. Until then he was quiet!”
Others echoed similar sentiments, stating:
“All cause he has a movie releasing soon. Too late!”
“Boycott his movie. That’s what we should do.”
“The best way to teach these ungrateful people is only by boycotting them & their movies.”
Bollywood Under Scanner for Silence on National Issues
Aamir is not alone. Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan have also faced heat for their ambiguous or silent stances on national issues, particularly Operation Sindoor.
Amitabh Bachchan’s Cryptic Tweets Raise Eyebrows
Despite being active on X since the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, Amitabh has not addressed the Operation Sindoor strike. Instead, he has shared nearly 20 blank tweets, each with only a serial number. His latest read:
“T 5355 – The silent X chromosome… deciding the brain (sic).”
Many followers were baffled by his cryptic messages, interpreting them as a refusal to comment on serious national developments.
Salman Khan Faces Flak for Deleted Ceasefire Tweet
Salman Khan, too, drew criticism after tweeting about an India-Pakistan ceasefire and then deleting the post. Netizens questioned why he spoke about peace but ignored the armed forces’ successful operations.
The Verdict from Social Media: Speak Up or Get Boycotted
With rising nationalism and political awareness among social media users, Bollywood celebrities are increasingly expected to take a stand on national matters. Many now believe silence—or selective timing—speaks volumes.
As public sentiment turns more vocal, stars like Aamir Khan may find their box office performance directly affected by their public positions—or lack thereof.
