Adhere to government guidelines during Eid-ul-Azha: JUH to Muslims

Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, a prominent Muslim organization, called upon Muslims to adhere strictly to government guidelines during the observance of Eid-ul-Azha and refrain from sharing images of slaughtered animals on social media.

Eid-ul-Azha, also known as the festival of sacrifice, is set to be celebrated on Thursday. Muslims worldwide partake in the ritual sacrifice of animals, as permitted by the law of their respective countries, symbolizing their willingness and obedience to God, mirroring the actions of Prophet Ibrahim when he offered his son Ismael as a sacrifice in submission to Allah’s command. As it was the test for him from Allah, the Almighty pleased with his submission sent a sheep. Thus the sheep was sacrificed in place of Ismail.

In a statement, Maulana Arshad Madani, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, emphasized the importance of taking precautionary measures while offering animal sacrifices, considering the current situation. He specifically urged Muslims not to share pictures of slaughtered animals on social media and to strictly adhere to government guidelines, ensuring that prohibited animals are not sacrificed.

Maulana Madani encouraged individuals to cooperate with local authorities should anyone attempt to interfere with their legitimate sacrifice, emphasizing the need to maintain cleanliness during the occasion. He stressed that animal waste should not be discarded on roads, streets, or drains, but instead be properly buried to prevent any unpleasant odors.

The Jamiat chief affirmed the necessity of making every possible effort to prevent harm to others through the actions of Muslims. Additionally, he urged individuals to report any instances of provocation by sectarian elements to the local police station.
