Ameesha Patel Speaks Out on Age Gap Between Salman and Rashmika in ‘Sikandar’

Actress Ameesha Patel has shared her views on the ongoing debate surrounding the significant age gap between Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna in their latest film, Sikandar.

Mumbai: Actress Ameesha Patel has shared her views on the ongoing debate surrounding the significant age gap between Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna in their latest film, Sikandar. The topic gained attention after a recent press conference, where the age difference between the two stars was discussed.

Ameesha Patel’s Response to Age Gap Criticism

During an event in Mumbai, when asked about the age gap between Salman and Rashmika, Ameesha was quick to point out that age gaps in Bollywood are not uncommon. Speaking to IANS, she explained, “Me and Sunny Ji (Sunny Deol) also have a huge age gap – more than 20 years, but when the film works, everything is forgiven.” Ameesha, who has worked with Sunny Deol in both Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and Gadar 2, noted that their successful films have overcome the age difference, with both movies turning out to be massive hits at the box office. It’s important to note that Ameesha and Sunny Deol share an 18-year age gap.

Salman Khan Talks About Age Gap in ‘Sikandar’

The conversation around the age gap was also sparked by Salman Khan himself during the trailer launch of Sikandar. The actor, known for his candid style, joked about the 31-year age difference between himself and Rashmika. He said, “I have a 31-year age difference between me and the heroine. The heroine doesn’t have this problem. The heroine’s father doesn’t have this problem.” He then turned to Rashmika, asking, “You don’t have this problem, right?”

The statement reflects the evolving dynamics in the Indian film industry, where it is not unusual for older male leads to romance younger actresses. Despite some criticism, such pairings continue to feature prominently in Bollywood films.

Sikandar: A Mixed Response at the Box Office

Directed by AR Murugadoss, Sikandar was released in cinemas on March 30. The action thriller, featuring Salman Khan as Sanjay “Sikandar” Rajkot, received a mixed response from both critics and audiences. Despite significant buzz and anticipation, the film failed to make a strong impact at the box office.

In the movie, Salman’s character, the king of Rajkot, becomes a target for a minister after killing his son. The story intensifies as the life-saving organs of his wife, donated to others, prompt revenge from the minister. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, Prateik Babbar, and others in key roles.

Ameesha Patel’s Take on Bollywood’s Age Gap Culture

The conversation surrounding age gaps in Bollywood films continues to be a topic of discussion, with many viewers questioning traditional dynamics. Despite mixed opinions, both Ameesha Patel and Salman Khan have shown that successful films often transcend age differences between lead actors, especially when the story resonates with audiences.

As Sikandar continues to make waves in theatres, it remains to be seen how the film will fare in the coming weeks.
