Of the 13 new cases, two were reported in the Dhaka Division, while the remaining 11 were in the Barishal Division. As of now, dengue fever has claimed 13 lives in the country in 2025. Additionally, 55 individuals are currently receiving treatment for dengue at various hospitals across Bangladesh.

The number of dengue cases in 2025 has already surpassed the figures recorded in the same period last year. In 2024, dengue-related deaths reached 575, highlighting the serious nature of the outbreak. According to the World Health Organization’s South-East Asia Region Epidemiological Bulletin, there has been a significant increase in both the number of dengue cases and deaths compared to 2024. In 2025, at least 1,822 dengue cases and 16 dengue-related deaths were reported, marking a 123% increase in infections and a 59% rise in fatalities compared to the same period last year.

During the period from March 3 to March 9, Bangladesh recorded 70 new dengue cases, showing a 12.9% increase from the 62 cases reported the previous week. Public health experts and entomologists have raised concerns over the lack of effective measures to combat the dengue outbreak, suggesting that the medical system has not been sufficiently overhauled to address the rising cases.
