Hyderabad: Tension gripped the Anantapur District Court in Andhra Pradesh’s Sri Sathya Sai district on Tuesday morning after a bomb threat email, purportedly sent in the name of the LTTE, triggered panic among court staff and advocates.

According to officials, the threatening email was received on the court’s official email ID shortly after proceedings began for the day. The message claimed that explosive devices had been planted inside the court premises and would detonate soon.

Upon noticing the email, court authorities immediately alerted senior officials and the police. As news of the threat spread, lawyers and court staff rushed out of the courtrooms, leading to chaos within the court complex. All court proceedings were temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure.

Police from the Two Town station, along with bomb disposal squads and sniffer dog teams, rushed to the spot and began a thorough search of the premises, including court halls, record rooms, and parking areas. Security was tightened in and around the complex.

Cyber Crime Police have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the email and identify those responsible. While initial suspicions suggest it could be a hoax, authorities said that all angles are being examined and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.

Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
