Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at the Begum Bazar Fish Market under the limits of Goshamahal Police Station after a BRS leader was allegedly attacked while inspecting a local drainage issue. The incident has triggered political heat in the area, with a formal police complaint now registered.

BRS Leader Attacked During Drainage Issue Inspection

According to details, BRS leader Anand Kumar Goud visited the Begum Bazar fish market area after local residents complained about a severe sewage and drainage problem. While he was inspecting the issue, he was allegedly abused and attacked by BJP leaders.

The attack is said to have been carried out by Raja Singh’s personal assistant Krishna, along with Shankar Yadav, who is also the GHMC BJP Floor Leader.

Argument Turns Violent

Eyewitnesses stated that BJP leaders objected to Anand Kumar Goud’s presence, allegedly questioning why he had entered their division. The argument soon escalated, leading to a physical assault.

During the attack, Anand Kumar Goud sustained an injury below his eye, prompting immediate concern among locals present at the spot.

Complaint Lodged at Goshamahal Police Station

Following the incident, Anand Kumar Goud approached Goshamahal Police Station and lodged a formal complaint against Shankar Yadav and Krishna, accusing them of assault and abusive behavior.

Police officials have confirmed that the complaint has been received and that the matter is under review. Further action is expected after preliminary inquiry.

Political Tension in Goshamahal Area

The incident has sparked fresh political tension in the Goshamahal constituency, especially as it involves civic issues like drainage and sewage management in a busy commercial area such as Begum Bazar fish market.

Local residents have urged authorities to focus on resolving the drainage problem rather than allowing political disputes to disrupt public welfare.

The police are expected to examine CCTV footage and witness statements as part of the investigation.
