CM Announces Major Development Boost for Adilabad; University, Airport, Irrigation Projects to Be Fast-Tracked
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy unveils a massive development agenda for Adilabad, including a new university, Pranahita–Chevella irrigation revival, airport construction, cement industry expansion, and major job recruitment.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced a comprehensive development plan to transform Adilabad into one of the state’s fastest-growing districts. Speaking at the ‘Praja Palana – Praja Vijayotsav’ programs in Adilabad town, the Chief Minister laid the foundation for several developmental works and outlined a long-term vision centered on education, irrigation, infrastructure and employment.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to uplift one of Telangana’s most backward districts and ensure its balanced growth.
University for Adilabad to Be Sanctioned Soon
The Chief Minister confirmed that a new university will be sanctioned for Adilabad after a high-level review meeting.
He suggested that Indravelli would be an ideal location and proposed naming it Komuram Bheem University but emphasized that the final decision will be taken collectively by elected representatives of the undivided district.
Additional educational initiatives already approved include:
- Young India Integrated Residential School
- ATC Centre
- Medical College for Adilabad
Pranahita–Chevella Project to Be Revived for Irrigation Needs
Revanth Reddy expressed strong commitment to reviving the long-pending Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Pranahita–Chevella Project at Tummidihatti, enabling irrigation water to reach farmlands across Adilabad.
Key points highlighted:
- Maharashtra had already agreed to construct the project at 150 meters height
- Previous government “ignored” the project despite approval
- Works will begin soon to provide water security for farmers
- Chanaka–Korata project will also be completed and dedicated to the public
Adilabad Airport to Be Taken Up Within a Year
Calling it a major breakthrough for the region, the Chief Minister announced:
- Construction of Adilabad Airport will begin within a year
- Areas previously seen as inaccessible will soon witness airplane connectivity
- Airport development will significantly boost tourism, trade and employment
New Cement Industry to Generate Local Employment
With Adilabad rich in limestone reserves, the government plans to:
- Invite private investors
- Establish a modern cement industry
- Create strong employment opportunities for local youth
Massive Job Recruitment Drive in Telangana
Revanth Reddy reiterated the government’s promise to prioritize jobs, noting that:
- 61,000 government jobs have already been filled within a year
- Group-1 recruitment was completed and 563 officers were appointed
- After the current public programs conclude, the government will begin recruitment for 40,000 additional jobs, taking the total to 1 lakh jobs
He urged Telangana’s youth to aim high and achieve positions like IAS and IPS, contributing to the state’s development.
Development and Welfare Are Our Two Eyes: CM
The Chief Minister stressed that elections may involve politics, but once governance begins, development and welfare become the government’s top priorities.
He described serving the people of Telangana as a blessing and said the government will continue to work relentlessly toward a prosperous and inclusive Telangana.
Honouring Komuram Bheem and Tribal Legacy
Revanth Reddy highlighted the government’s commitment to tribal welfare, stating:
- Indravelli’s spirit of struggle guides the government
- Indravelli Martyrs’ Column has been declared a tourist destination
- Housing under Indiramma Housing Scheme has been sanctioned for families of martyrs
