CM Revanth Reddy Asks Telangana MPs to Push for Musi River Project, IIM Hyderabad, Metro and RRR Approvals
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy urged Telangana MPs to seek Central approvals for IIM Hyderabad, Hyderabad Metro Phase-II, Regional Ring Road, Musi Rejuvenation, irrigation projects and airport development ahead of the July 20 Parliament session.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday urged Members of Parliament (MPs) from the state to work together beyond political differences to secure Central Government approvals for key infrastructure, irrigation and development projects. During a meeting at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Praja Bhavan, the Chief Minister gave a PowerPoint presentation on pending issues ahead of the Parliament session beginning on July 20 and asked MPs to pursue approvals for projects including IIM Hyderabad, Hyderabad Metro Phase-II, Regional Ring Road (RRR), Musi Rejuvenation and major irrigation schemes.

CM Calls for United Effort on Telangana’s Development
Addressing the MPs, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said all public representatives should work together for the larger interests of Telangana, irrespective of political affiliations.
He asked MPs to focus on obtaining necessary approvals from the Central Government for:
- Irrigation projects
- Infrastructure development
- Other pending proposals relating to Telangana
Meeting Held Ahead of Parliament Session
The Chief Minister made a detailed PowerPoint presentation at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Praja Bhavan on issues pending with the Centre before the Parliament session scheduled to begin on July 20.
The meeting was attended by:

CM Seeks MPs’ Support for IIM in Hyderabad
The Chief Minister said Hyderabad is one of the six major cities that together account for 10% of India’s population and contribute 25% of the country’s GDP.
He said approval from the Union Finance Ministry is required for establishing an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister requested MPs to meet Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and seek approval for the IIM.
Hyderabad Metro Phase-I and Phase-II
The Chief Minister briefed MPs on discussions with the Central Government regarding:
- Hyderabad Metro Phase-I acquisition
- Hyderabad Metro Phase-II expansion
He said the Centre has agreed to appoint SBICAPS as the consultant for the project and requested MPs to ensure that the process moves forward quickly.
He specifically requested BJP MPs Eatala Rajender and Konda Vishweshwar Reddy to give special attention to the Metro project.
Regional Ring Road and Musi Rejuvenation
The Chief Minister informed the meeting that:
- 95% land acquisition has been completed for the northern section of the Regional Ring Road (RRR).
- Approval from the Union Cabinet is required for starting the northern section works and for land acquisition in the southern section.
He asked MPs to pursue the matter with the Centre.
Regarding the Musi Rejuvenation Project, the Chief Minister said:
- The first phase has reached the tender stage.
- The project requires an approval letter from the Centre under the Urban Challenge Fund.
He requested MPs to meet Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar regarding the approval.
River Water Issues Discussed
The Chief Minister briefed MPs on the recent meeting held in Karnataka under the chairmanship of Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil, attended by the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, regarding inter-state river water issues.
He said:
- Telangana is entitled to 15.09 TMC of water from the Tungabhadra.
- Due to silt accumulation, the state is receiving not more than 5 TMC.
He said the Centre has been requested to convince Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka to cooperate in desilting the dam and canals.
The Chief Minister also urged MPs to pursue the matter with the Union Minister.
Godavari Water and River Linking
The Chief Minister said the Central Government has taken responsibility for persuading Chhattisgarh regarding bringing Godavari water to Nagarjuna Sagar as part of the river-linking programme.
He stated:
- Chhattisgarh has a share of 300 TMC in the Godavari.
- The state is currently not using that allocation.
- Even if Chhattisgarh uses 160 TMC in the future, 143 TMC would still remain surplus.
- Telangana could receive 43 TMC from the surplus water.
He also referred to the Godavari–Cauvery river-linking project, under which water would be supplied through Andhra Pradesh to Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.
The Chief Minister asked MPs to give special attention to the issue, stating that while the water belongs to Chhattisgarh, the funding would come from the Central Government, and both should benefit Telangana.
NOCs for United Andhra Pradesh Projects
The Chief Minister reminded MPs that projects initiated during the united Andhra Pradesh require No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from Andhra Pradesh.
He said the matter had been discussed with Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil and the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, who had agreed in principle.
He added that once the NOCs are issued, the remaining hurdles for those projects would be removed.
Tummidihatti Project and Airport Development
The Chief Minister suggested that MPs meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding the Tummidihatti Project to facilitate its construction at 150–151 feet.
He also informed the meeting that:
- Alignments for proposed bullet train routes from Shamshabad Airport to Bengaluru, Chennai and Mumbai have been finalised.
- Land acquisition has been completed for Adilabad Defence Airport and Warangal Airport.
- Telangana is seeking the establishment of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities and air cargo hubs at these airports.
He urged MPs to pursue these proposals with the Central Government.
Coordination for Telangana MPs
The Chief Minister said the Telangana Government is cooperating with the Centre in the interest of the state.
He informed the MPs that IAS officer Advait Kumar Singh has been appointed at Telangana Bhavan, New Delhi, to coordinate and provide information on pending issues.
He advised MPs to obtain any required information from the officer.
The Chief Minister also asked MP Dr. Mallu Ravi, the MPs’ convener, to coordinate all MPs across party lines.
The MPs also raised various issues during the meeting.
