The college, which is managed by Sena (UBT) leader and former BJP MLC Dr Apoorva Hiray, organized the seminar. Right-wing members protested against the event, accusing it of enticing students towards Islam. Maharashtra’s Ports Development and Mining Department Minister Dada Bhuse also demanded action against those responsible for the seminar.

The seminar, organized by the Hiray family, focused on career opportunities in the defense sector. It was conducted in collaboration with a local organization called Satya Malik Lok Sewa Group, which invited guest speaker Anees Kutty from the Anees Defence Career Institute in Pune.

According to the suspended principal, Dr Subhash Nikam, the seminar began with a short Islamic prayer, which is a customary practice for the organization’s events. However, towards the end of the seminar, a large group of individuals entered the venue claiming that the event was promoting Islam.
