Congress Won 90 Per Cent in Municipal Elections: Revanth Reddy

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday said the Congress won 90 per cent in municipal elections, describing the results as a strong endorsement of the government’s welfare-focused governance. He said the outcome would encourage the administration to work harder for the empowerment of the poor and marginalized communities.

Speaking at the Sant Sevalal Maharaj birth anniversary celebrations in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister said the party remains committed to serving people irrespective of electoral victories or defeats, emphasizing that public service remains the government’s primary goal.

“Victory Will Not Change Our Commitment,” Says CM

Revanth Reddy stated that the government maintains a balanced approach toward electoral outcomes.

  • He said the party does not become overly celebratory after victories.
  • Nor does it lose morale after setbacks.
  • The focus, he said, remains on continuous public service.

The Chief Minister also took responsibility for the municipal election results and said opposition parties were struggling to accept the ground reality of state politics after the Congress secured 90 per cent of seats.

Clarification on “Nene Raju Nene Mantri” Remark

Addressing criticism from opposition leaders, Revanth Reddy clarified his earlier “Nene Raju Nene Mantri” remark. He said the statement reflected his dual responsibility as Chief Minister and holder of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development portfolio at the time of elections, and was not meant to convey arrogance.

He accused political rivals of claiming they were “born to rule,” while asserting that his approach is that of a public servant rather than a ruler.

Focus on Tribal Welfare and Lambada Community

Highlighting the contribution of the Lambada community to his political journey, the Chief Minister announced several initiatives:

  • Construction of a giant statue of Sant Sevalal Maharaj in the Nallamala forest.
  • Organizing future anniversary celebrations on a grand scale.
  • Development projects following tribal traditions.

He also noted the role of Lambadas in the Telangana movement and paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives.

Development Promises for Tribal Areas

Revanth Reddy said the government will prioritize tribal welfare along with Dalits and ensure equal respect and opportunities. Key development measures include:

  • BT roads in all Tribal Tandas
  • New government school infrastructure
  • Gram Panchayat buildings and water tanks
  • Solar pump sets for drinking water supply

He said improved road connectivity is a key benchmark for development and acknowledged gaps in safe drinking water coverage in some rural habitations.

Welfare, Education and Social Justice Agenda

The Chief Minister said the government is issuing ration cards as a symbol of dignity for the poor and is focusing on long-term solutions like education.

  • Plans to build Young India Schools in 100 constituencies with a major investment
  • Focus on quality education to reduce poverty
  • Recruitment of officials from tribal communities to inspire students

He also highlighted measures related to SC representation and classification, noting increased opportunities and representation in government positions.

Congress Won 90 Per Cent in Municipal Elections Signals Political Momentum

Concluding his remarks, Revanth Reddy reiterated that the fact that Congress won 90 per cent in municipal elections reflects public trust in the government’s policies. He said the mandate would be used to accelerate development, strengthen welfare schemes, and ensure inclusive growth across Telangana.
