Hyderabad: In a unique move to assess ground-level policing, Khairatabad Zone DCP Shilpa Valli carried out a surprise late-night inspection of Panjagutta Police Station in Hyderabad.
According to official sources, the DCP arrived at the station on Thursday night after leaving her official vehicle and security personnel at a distance. Dressed in civilian attire, she quietly entered the police station without disclosing her identity.
She reportedly sat in the reception area like an ordinary complainant and closely observed the behavior of the staff and their interaction with visitors. It is said that she monitored the functioning and alertness of the personnel for nearly one and a half hours.

Later, the DCP revealed her identity and summoned the concerned Circle Inspector and ACP. She issued instructions to improve public dealings, overall performance, and professional conduct of the staff.
The unexpected inspection reportedly left the station personnel surprised, as the senior officer’s unannounced visit directly exposed the on-ground performance. Following the incident, officials at other police stations in the zone have also reportedly become more alert.
The move has been viewed as a strong message emphasizing accountability, discipline, and citizen-friendly policing.
