Nizamabad: In a shocking incident linked to a ganja smuggling case in Nizamabad, an Excise woman constable, Soumya, sustained life-threatening injuries after smugglers deliberately rammed a car into her during duty. The Nizamabad ganja smuggling case has triggered widespread outrage within the Excise Department and led to protests demanding strict action.

Smugglers Ram Car Into Constable During Duty
The incident occurred around midnight in Madhavanagar, where excise officials attempted to stop a vehicle suspected of transporting ganja. The smugglers allegedly hit Soumya with the car, dragged her forward, and then ran over her again while reversing, in a brutal attempt to escape.
Severe Injuries, Condition Critical
Soumya suffered serious injuries to her chest, kidney, and spleen. Doctors were forced to remove one kidney and the spleen during emergency surgery. She is currently on ventilator support, and doctors have said the next 48 hours are extremely critical.
For advanced treatment, Soumya was shifted from Nizamabad to Hyderabad.
2 Kg Ganja Seized, Five Booked for Attempt to Murder
Excise officials seized 2 kilograms of dry ganja from the car used by the smugglers. The vehicle was reportedly rented for smuggling activities. Police registered a case of attempt to murder against five accused.

- Absconding: Matin, Rahil, Shiba
Officials said Matin, the main accused, already has multiple criminal cases registered against him.
Smugglers’ Car Hits Electric Pole While Fleeing
While attempting to escape, the smugglers’ car rammed into an electric pole, which eventually brought the vehicle to a halt and helped officials take action.
Excise Staff Protest, Allege Negligence
The incident sparked anger among excise staff across Nizamabad. Employees staged a dharna and work boycott, alleging that the incident occurred due to negligence by CI Swapna. Protesters demanded strict action against CI Swapna and Constable Ameer.
Collector Visits Hospital, Govt Assures Support
District Collector Ila Tripathi visited Soumya at the hospital and reviewed her condition. Authorities assured that all medical expenses will be borne by the government and that Soumya’s family will receive full support.
Excise Department Stands With Injured Constable
Senior excise officials reiterated their commitment to stand by Soumya and her family and promised strict legal action against ganja smugglers involved in the Nizamabad incident.
The Nizamabad ganja smuggling case, which left an excise woman constable fighting for life, has once again highlighted the dangers faced by enforcement personnel during anti-drug operations.
