Hyderabad: In a major food safety crackdown, Habib Nagar Police and the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force busted a fake ginger garlic paste manufacturing unit in Mallepally, arresting one accused and seizing 1,090 kg of adulterated ginger garlic paste. Fake Ginger Garlic Paste Unit Busted in Habib Nagar
The Hyderabad Task Force Khairatabad Zone team conducted a surprise raid in the Habib Nagar police station limits after receiving credible information.
During the operation, police raided a food processing unit named “Shehzada Food Master” located near Ghatala Masjid in Mallepally, Hyderabad.
Key developments in the operation:
- One accused arrested: Mohammed Farooq (50), resident of Aghapura
- Owner of the food unit producing adulterated ginger garlic paste
- Unit operating in extremely unhygienic conditions
- Expired FSSAI license found at the premises
Police immediately detained the accused and seized the adulterated food products.
Harmful Chemicals Used in Ginger Garlic Paste
During the raid in the Habib Nagar fake ginger garlic paste manufacturing unit, officials discovered that the paste was prepared using dangerous chemicals and artificial ingredients.
Authorities found that the accused used:
- Acetic acid
- Synthetic food colors
- Gum powder
- Salt and starch powder
The paste was stored in open plastic containers exposed to dust, flies, and contamination, making it unsafe for human consumption.
Large Quantity of Adulterated Paste Seized
Police seized a large quantity of fake ginger garlic paste and raw materials during the operation.

- 1,090 kg adulterated ginger garlic paste stored in drums and boxes
- 875 kg raw ginger and garlic stock stored in unhygienic conditions
- Chemicals used for adulteration including starch powder, gum powder, synthetic colors, salt bags and acetic acid
- Two grinding machines used for production
- One Oppo F21s Pro 5G mobile phone
The total seized material is estimated to be worth around ₹2,20,000.
Paste Supplied to Restaurants and Food Businesses
Police investigation revealed that the fake ginger garlic paste manufactured in Habib Nagar was supplied to restaurants, wholesale grocery shops, and catering services across Hyderabad.
The accused reportedly earned large illegal profits by selling the adulterated product in bulk to food businesses.
Officials warned that such products pose serious health risks to the public.
Case Registered Under BNS Sections
The Habib Nagar fake ginger garlic paste case has been registered under:
- Crime Number: 53/2026
- Sections: 318(4) and 275 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)
The accused along with the seized materials has been handed over to the Habib Nagar Police Station SHO for further legal action.

The successful operation was carried out by the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force Khairatabad Zone team along with Habib Nagar police.
