GHMC Takes Major Step to Improve City Administration
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has rolled out a major administrative overhaul by deploying 60 Deputy Commissioners to newly established civic circles in Hyderabad. The initiative aims to strengthen civic governance, speed up decision-making, and enhance public services across the city.
The transfers and appointments were overseen by R V Karnan, Commissioner, GHMC.
Part of State Government’s New Civic Structure
This administrative move follows the state government’s recent notification that reorganised Hyderabad’s civic setup into:
- 12 zones
- 60 circles
- 300 wards
Zonal Commissioners have already been appointed for each zone, and the deployment of Deputy Commissioners is intended to operationalise the new structure at the ground level.
Immediate Charge Instructions Issued
According to official orders:
- All 60 Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to assume charge immediately
- Officers were transferred from 30 earlier circles and various GHMC departments
- Each officer has been assigned a new role aligned with the revised civic map
GHMC officials said the reshuffle will help ensure better coordination, accountability, and faster grievance redressal.
