Harish Rao proposes 1000 Bedded Super Specialty Hospital at Erragadda Chest Hospital

Speaking on the occasion of World AIDS Day at Chest Hospital, the Minister said the four super specialty government hospitals will provide healthcare facilities on par with corporate hospitals.

Hyderabad: Minister for Medical, Health and Family Welfare and Finance, T.Harish Rao has mooted the idea of constructing the 1000 bedded super specialty hospital in the 60 acres campus of Government Chest Hospital, Erragadda and this will be part of the long promise of constructing four super specialty hospitals in and around the city of Hyderabad.

There is also a plan to upgrade TIMS, Gachibowli into a super specialty hospital while two more similar facilities will come up at Chest Hospital campus and the vacant space at Gaddiannaram fruit market. A fourth healthcare facility has been proposed at Alwal or Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

Speaking on the occasion of World AIDS Day at Chest Hospital, the Minister said the four super specialty government hospitals will provide healthcare facilities on par with corporate hospitals.

Commenting on the HIV/AIDS, Harish Rao said there is a lot of awareness among people about HIV, which has played a vital role in reduction of fatalities by atleast 90 per cent.

The Minister said that before the formation of Telangana state, the percentage of HIV/AIDS was 0.7 per cent, which has over the years gone down to 0.4 per cent. To improve facilities for HIV/AIDS patients, government have established 167 Integrated Counseling and Testing Centers and 22 ART centers that provide free treatment and diagnostic services every year, the State government is incurring an expenditure of Rs. 50 crore, he added.
