Home guard held for molesting teenage girl in moving Venkatradri Express

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a home guard of Kodur PS of AP in the moving Venkatradri Express in the intervening night of May 28 and 29.

Hyderabad: A 15-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a home guard of Kodur PS of AP in the moving Venkatradri Express in the intervening night of May 28 and 29.

According to the father of the victim of Hyderabad, the complainant, his wife and daughter boarded the Venkatadri express on May 28, 2024, at 1830 hrs and travelling from Tirupathi to Kacheguda by Train No.12798 Venkatadri Exp (Chittoor-Kacheguda) in S3 coach.

He said his daughter was sleeping inside upper berth and his wife was inside lower berth. In the moving train, he noticed that the accused T. Prathap, Home Gurard-105 of Kodur Law & Order Police Station of A.P, insulted the modesty of the victim by touching her private parts in uniform.

On receipt of the complaint, SHO, Railway Police Kacheguda registered a case in Cr.No.100/2024 U/s 354 IPC, 9 read with 10 POCSO Act-2012, and Sec. 147 Railway Act.

On May 29, R. Yellappa, Inspector of Police, RPS Kachiguda, arrested Home Guard T. Prathap, of Kodur Law & Order Police Station of A.P and presently staying at Plot.no.55/B Venkatreddy Nagar, Ramanthapur, Hyderabad. The accused is a native of Railway Kodur, Pagadapalle (M), Kadapa district of AP State. The accused was produced before the Court for judicial custody.

The case is being investigated by IRP R. Yellappa, Kachiguda RPS, under the guidance of Shaik Saleema, IPS, SRP, Secunderabad and supervision of S.N. Jawed, DSRP (U) Secunderabad.
