Project Revived After Years of Neglect
Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that the Huzurnagar housing project was originally launched during his tenure as Housing Minister in undivided Andhra Pradesh.
He explained that construction had progressed significantly before 2014, but the project was later neglected.
According to the minister, the project remained incomplete for several years until the Congress government returned to power in 2023, after which efforts were made to revive and complete it.
The minister said the government worked to transform the once-neglected site into a modern housing colony for the poor.
Officials Directed to Complete Work Within One Week
During his inspection, Uttam Kumar Reddy instructed officials to complete all remaining work within the next week, even if it requires working overtime.
He stressed that the project must be ready for the scheduled inauguration on March 14.
The minister also emphasized the importance of ensuring that the housing colony becomes a well-planned and functional residential community for beneficiaries.
Transparent Selection Process for Beneficiaries
The government has announced that the selection of beneficiaries for the Huzurnagar housing project will follow a transparent process.
Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy said the process will be supervised by a team of officials led by the local Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO).
Guidelines for Beneficiary Selection
- Strict verification of applicants
- Priority to poorest families
- Focus on rural workers and economically weaker sections
- No inclusion of ineligible families
The minister said that 1,000 beneficiaries will be finalized in the first phase, ensuring that the most deserving families receive housing benefits.
Housing Project to Transform Lives in Huzurnagar
The Huzurnagar housing project scheduled for inauguration on March 14 is expected to significantly improve the living conditions of many poor families.
With 2,160 housing units built across 110 acres, the project represents one of the major housing initiatives aimed at providing secure shelter to economically weaker sections in the region.
Officials believe that once completed, the Huzurnagar housing colony will create a thriving community and bring long-term relief to hundreds of families struggling for proper housing.
