Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has issued directives to officials to complete the development of the Musi River front within the next 36 months.

In the first phase, the Chief Minister has specified the development of a 55-kilometer stretch within the limits of Hyderabad.

The CM conducted a comprehensive review of the Musi Riverfront development alongside HMDA officials at the Nanakramguda office on Tuesday, a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office said on Tuesday night.

During the meeting, CM Revanth Reddy urged officials to select an iconic design that caters to people from all walks of life.

Emphasising inclusivity, he stated that the design should encompass facilities such as amusement parks, waterfalls, children’s water sports, street vendors, business areas, shopping malls, and more to cater to all sections of society. Officials have been instructed to study riverfront development projects from other states and foreign countries for inspiration.

CM Revanth Reddy further advised officials to initiate the related work within the next three months. Additionally, measures will be taken to redirect rainwater into the Musi to effectively manage sudden floods.

Highlighting the importance of a cautious approach, CM Revanth Reddy directed authorities to take necessary precautions to avoid any hurdles in the Musi Riverfront development.

As a part of the project, a tourism circuit will be designed, connecting historical buildings such as Charminar, Taramati Baradari, and other tourist attractions along the Musi catchment areas.

The CM instructed officials to prepare plans for undertaking this project in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode.

The review meeting saw the participation of Secretary to Municipal Administration D Kishore, HMDA Joint Commissioner Amrapali, CM OSD Ajith Reddy, and other key officials.
