Hyderabad Gang Sells Fake Parachute Hair Oil, Red Label Tea, Surf Excel, and more to Local Shops
Hyderabad Police busts counterfeit gang making fake household items; sourced from Delhi, sold locally
Hyderabad authorities have dismantled a network of counterfeit household product manufacturers operating in the city. The gang, consisting of three individuals, specialized in producing fake versions of popular items such as Parachute Coconut Oil, Red Label Tea, Surf Excel, and Everest Masala.
Operating under the radar, they sold these knock-off products to local Kirana shops and supermarkets, passing them off as genuine articles. This illegal operation thrived in and around Hyderabad, earning the perpetrators substantial illicit profits.
The police, aided by representatives from Marico Limited and Hindustan Unilever Kacheguda, conducted raids across multiple locations, including Nagaram, Keesara Mandal, and the Katedhan industrial area. These raids led to the seizure of counterfeit goods valued at ₹2 crore.
The seized items posed significant health risks, containing toxic substances that could cause severe and prolonged harm upon exposure. Three individuals—Mahendra Singh (29), Mithlesh Kumar (23), and Triyam Kumar (19)—have been apprehended, while three others remain at large.
This crackdown is part of a broader effort to curb the production and distribution of counterfeit goods in Hyderabad. Another recent operation by the West Zone Task Force resulted in the arrest of three individuals involved in manufacturing and selling fake household items. Authorities seized goods worth ₹2 crore, including counterfeit Parachute Hair Oil, Red Label Tea Powder, Colgate Toothpaste, and other popular brands.
