Government to Restore Closed Bars Across Telangana
The 40 bars, which had their licenses canceled by the government due to different circumstances, are now set to be reinstated. The restoration process will include bars from multiple districts, including Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam, Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar, Medak, Nizamabad, and Ranga Reddy.
According to the announcement, the restoration of these bars will involve:
- Five bars in Adilabad
- One bar in Karimnagar
- Four bars in Warangal
- Two bars in Khammam
- One bar in Nalgonda
- Five bars in Mahbubnagar
- One bar in Medak
- Four bars in Nizamabad
- Two bars in Ranga Reddy district
Exclusion of Bars in GHMC Limits
However, due to the ongoing local body MLC elections within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, applications for 15 bars will not be accepted until after the elections are concluded. This exclusion is meant to maintain the integrity of the election process.

New Bar Licenses in Meerpet and Kodangal Municipalities
The Excise Department has also announced the opening of new bars in place of the old ones in certain municipalities. Saroornagar Excise Superintendent Ujjwala Reddy mentioned that the notification for new bars in Meerpet Municipality has been issued, and interested applicants should apply for the available licenses.

Additionally, Deputy Commissioner of Excise Dasarath stated that applications are being invited for the replacement of old bars in Kodangal Municipality, under the jurisdiction of Vikarabad Excise Superintendent.
This move is part of the government’s effort to regulate and streamline the bar licensing process across the state.

The last date to submit applications for the new bar licenses is set for 26th April 2025. Authorities urge all interested parties to apply within the given timeframe to avoid missing out on this opportunity.
