Hyderabad Mango Ripening Case: In a major crackdown, Goshamahal Police in Hyderabad arrested a fruit trader for illegally using ethylene chemicals to artificially ripen mangoes beyond permitted limits, posing a serious threat to public health.

The accused, identified as Nikabvala Kunal (32), was apprehended during a raid conducted in the Chudi Bazar area under Golconda Zone.

Accused Arrested in Goshamahal

According to police:

  • The accused is a fruit trader from Puranapool, Hyderabad
  • He was found using “Diamond Ripe – Ethylene Ripener” sachets
  • The raid was conducted based on credible information

The operation was carried out by Goshamahal Police under senior officials’ supervision.

Chemicals Seized During Raid

During the Hyderabad mango ripening case raid, police seized:

  • 4 packets of Diamond Ripe Ethylene sachets
  • 25 loose sachets used for artificial ripening

Officials stated that the accused was using excess chemicals to speed up the ripening process.

Violation of Food Safety Norms

As per FSSAI guidelines:

  • 5 sachets per 20 kg of mangoes is considered safe
  • The accused was using 6 sachets per tray, exceeding limits

Police said this violation:

  • Endangers public health
  • Leads to illegal profits by unsafe practices

A case has been registered under:

  • Relevant sections of BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita)
  • Essential Commodities Act
  • TSPDS Control Act (2016)

The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.

Police have issued a strong warning:

  • Traders must not use unsafe chemicals for fruit ripening
  • Strict action will be taken against violators
  • Citizens should report suspicious activities to authorities
