Metro Takeover Process Accelerated

Officials have intensified discussions to complete the Hyderabad Metro takeover deal:

  • Meetings held with the Chief Secretary at Secretariat
  • Follow-up discussions at Metro Rail Bhavan, Begumpet
  • Target set to complete takeover by March 31

This move is expected to streamline operations and boost future metro expansion.

269 Acres of Land Under Metro Phase 1

During the initial construction of Hyderabad Metro Phase 1, the government had allotted:

  • 212 acres for metro depots across three corridors
  • 57 acres for parking and circulation areas

👉 Total land allocated: 269 acres
👉 Usable land as per agreement: 267 acres (due to 2-acre dispute)

This land was given to L&T Hyderabad Metro Limited for infrastructure and commercial use.

Key Land Utilization Details

The land has been utilized for major metro infrastructure:

  • 104 acres – Uppal Metro Depot
  • 96 acres – Miyapur Metro Depot

In addition, commercial developments were built at:

  • Punjagutta
  • Erramanzil
  • Moosarambagh
  • Madhapur – Hi-Tech City
  • Raidurgam

A major commercial complex was also developed at Raidurgam, while other parcels were leased to private firms.

Rayadurg Land Sublease Worth ₹1200 Crore

A key highlight of the project:

  • 15 acres in Rayadurgam given on long-term lease
  • L&T reportedly raised around ₹1200 crore through sublease
  • Lease duration estimated at around 50 years
  • Private real estate companies are currently developing the land

Officials also noted that:

  • Over 10 acres near Miyapur depot remain vacant
  • Additional land near Ameerpet (Sarathi Studio) is still available

All Metro Assets to Transfer to Government

With the Hyderabad Metro Phase 1 acquisition, all assets will shift to government ownership:

  • Land parcels
  • Metro infrastructure
  • Commercial properties
  • Operational control

This includes both movable and immovable assets currently under L&T Metro.
