Hyderabad: In a major step toward easing congestion, a field inspection for the Hyderabad Model Corridor from Shaikpet to Masab Tank was conducted by V. C. Sajjanar and R. V. Karnan along with senior officials.

The inspection focused on identifying bottlenecks and accelerating traffic improvement works on the Shaikpet–Masab Tank corridor in Hyderabad, one of the city’s busiest routes.

Key Decisions to Improve Traffic in Hyderabad Corridor

During the inspection, officials took several important decisions to address traffic congestion in Shaikpet, Tolichowki, Mehdipatnam, and Masab Tank.

Major Observations

• Water-logging points identified at Shaikpet Flyover ramp and Tolichowki
• Proposal for a new Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at S.D. Eye Hospital
• Instructions issued to remove road obstructions to speed up work

Pedestrian Safety Measures

• New FOB at Brindavan Colony Road No. 1
• Installation of pelican signals and zebra crossings at Shaikpet Nala

Road & Drainage Improvements

• Fixing drainage leakages at Tolichowki U-turn and Al-Hasnath Colony
• Construction of CC road from Ice Magic Parlour to Brindavan Colony
• New bus shelter at Majestic Function Hall
• Tree relocation near Shah Ghouse Hotel

Officials also decided to reduce the rotary width at Nanal Nagar Junction and widen roads to ensure smoother traffic.

Rethibowli to Nanal Nagar: Road Widening & Encroachment Removal

To improve traffic flow on this stretch:

• Central median and trees will be removed for road widening
• Removal of Ramalayam Arch, Boddurayi (Golf Club Road), and tombs near Shaikpet Nala
• Creation of a free left turn from Balika Bhavan towards Tolichowki

These steps aim to eliminate daily bottlenecks in the Hyderabad Shaikpet–Masab Tank corridor.
