Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on illegal steroid injection sales in Hyderabad, the Commissioner’s Task Force, West Zone, arrested a gym trainer for illegally procuring and selling steroid injections used for body building without any valid prescription or license. Steroid injections and other material worth ₹1.20 lakh were seized during the operation.

Accused Arrested by Task Force
The arrested person has been identified as Rashid Matlub Khan (40), a gym trainer by profession and a resident of Natraj Nagar, Jhirra, Hyderabad. Acting on credible information, Task Force officials apprehended the accused while he was carrying steroid injection vials near Natraj Nagar.
Police said the accused was involved in the illegal sale of steroid injections to youth, especially those seeking rapid muscle growth.
Steroid Injections and Mobile Phone Seized
During the operation, officials seized the following items from the accused:
- Mephentermine Sulphate Injections (30 mg) – 100 bottles
- Vivo Y28E mobile phone – 1
The total value of the seized material is estimated at ₹1,20,000, officials said.
Previous Criminal History
Police revealed that Rashid Matlub Khan was also absconding in a case registered at Attapur Police Station. He has a history of criminal involvement, including cases registered at:
- Abids Road Police Station
- Tappachabutra Police Station
Officials said his repeated involvement in illegal activities prompted close surveillance.
Steroids Procured Through Courier
During interrogation, the accused disclosed that he procured the steroid injections online from Surat, using courier services in his wife’s name, identified as Farzana Begum. He then sold the injections to customers at inflated prices, without medical supervision.
Health Risks and Public Safety Concern
Police warned that steroid injections are in high demand among youth, not only for rapid muscle growth but also for conditions like low blood pressure. However, misuse and addiction can lead to serious health complications and long-term diseases.
Officials said individuals who had consumed these injections were counselled and advised to consult qualified medical doctors instead of using unprescribed steroids.
Strict Action Against Illegal Drug Trade
The arrest was carried out under the supervision of senior officers of the Commissioner’s Task Force, West Zone. Police reiterated that strict action will continue against those endangering public health for illegal profits.
