In a major enforcement drive, HYDRAA has protected government land worth ₹2,200 crore by removing large-scale encroachments near Madhapur, close to the Hitec Exhibition Centre. The operation resulted in the recovery of 11 acres of encroached government land and fencing of the Mondikunta lake to prevent future illegal occupation.

Large-Scale Operation in Khanamet
The major HYDRAA operation was carried out on Thursday at Khanamet village in Serilingampally mandal, Rangareddy district.
During the drive:
- Hundreds of temporary sheds were demolished
- Over 30 illegal shops were removed
- Mechanic sheds, iron and steel shops, and other structures were cleared
- Mondikunta lake encroachments were completely removed
- Protective fencing was installed around the lake
11 Acres of Government Land Reclaimed
HYDRAA officials confirmed that:
- Survey No. 53 (Mondikunta lake) and
- Survey No. 55 (adjacent government land)
had been encroached upon for years. Nearly 11 acres of land was illegally occupied, with shops collecting rent worth lakhs of rupees every month.
Action After Detailed Inquiry
Based on complaints received during HYDRAA Prajavani, a detailed field-level inquiry was conducted following the directions of A.V. Ranganath, HYDRAA Commissioner.
Key steps taken before the operation:
- Joint inspection with Revenue and GHMC officials
- Public hearing held on January 31
- Satellite images from NRSC examined
- Encroachments clearly identified in the presence of encroachers
- Time given before final clearance action
Public Support for HYDRAA Action
The encroachment removal was carried out under heavy police security. A large number of local residents gathered at the site and welcomed HYDRAA’s action, expressing happiness over the protection of Mondikunta lake.

- Development of parks on the reclaimed government land
- Beautification and development of Mondikunta lake
