HYDRAA carried out major anti-encroachment drives across Hyderabad, saving land worth ₹1,511 crore by protecting lakes and parks in Kondapur, Alwal, and other areas.

Hyderabad: The HYDRAA has carried out major anti-encroachment operations across Hyderabad, protecting land worth nearly ₹1,511 crore in a single day. The action covered multiple locations, including lakes and public parks, with immediate fencing to prevent future encroachments.

The large-scale drive reflects HYDRAA’s strict approach towards safeguarding lakes, Full Tank Level (FTL) areas, and park lands across the city.

Kondapur: HYDRAA Saves 4-Acre Lake, ₹700 Crore Land Protected

In Kondapur, along the Serilingampally Municipal Office–Madinaguda road, HYDRAA protected land worth about ₹700 crore by saving the 4-acre Jangamoni Kunta.

  • Encroachers had filled the lake with soil
  • Land was levelled and converted into plots for sale
  • After recent media reports, HYDRAA conducted a joint inspection with Revenue officials
  • The site was confirmed as Jangamoni Kunta
  • Cases were booked against encroachers

Alwal: Encroachments Removed from 8 Acres of Kotha Cheruvu

In Alwal mandal of Medchal–Malkajgiri district, HYDRAA removed encroachments spread over 8 acres at Alwal Kotha Cheruvu.

Officials found that:

  • Plastic waste units and sheds were operating in the FTL area
  • Waste was being dumped into the lake, polluting the water body
  • Temporary sheds and shutters were built illegally

HYDRAA teams conducted field verification and removed all illegal structures, enforcing rules that prohibit construction in lake FTL zones.

Parks Protected in Vanasthalipuram and Kakatiya Nagar

HYDRAA also acted strongly to protect public parks:

Jakkidi Nagar, Vanasthalipuram

  • 650 square yards park land secured
  • Encroachments removed
  • Fencing installed and HYDRAA boards placed
  • Land originally earmarked as a park in approved layouts

Radhakrishna Housing Colony, Kakatiya Nagar

  • 450 square yards park land restored
  • Encroachments and tin sheds removed
  • Land earlier gifted to GHMC was reclaimed

In total, over 1,100 square yards of park land was protected in two locations.

HYDRAA Sends Strong Warning to Encroachers

Officials said HYDRAA is seriously dealing with encroachments and will act strictly against those occupying lakes and parks.

  • 4 major operations conducted in one day
  • 12 acres of lake FTL areas protected
  • Parks and public spaces restored
  • Immediate fencing done to stop future violations

The estimated value of the land saved in these operations is around ₹1,511 crore.
