The protected land falls under Survey Numbers 66/2, 66/3, 66/4, and 66/5 and measures 6.12 acres. Officials confirmed that the land belongs to the government and was under threat due to illegal layouts and encroachments.
HYDRAA conducted a field-level inspection along with officials from concerned departments after receiving complaints that the land had been encroached upon and converted into plots for sale.
Action Against Alleged Encroachments
According to officials, the encroachments were allegedly carried out by Nallamalla Reddy, an educational institution head, who had laid out plots adjacent to the government land and reportedly extended the layout into government property.
It is notable that exactly a year ago, HYDRAA had removed compound walls at Divya Nagar layout in the same area. Both then and now, the action involved the same individual, highlighting repeated violations.
Nearly 50 Illegal Plots Identified
Based on a survey report submitted by the Assistant Director of Survey and Land Records, HYDRAA identified nearly 50 plots carved out within the government land. To prevent further misuse:
- The entire 6.12 acres was fenced
- HYDRAA boards declaring it government land were installed
- Access was blocked to stop any future sale or development
Objections Rejected, Fencing Completed
Officials said attempts were made to obstruct the fencing work, with objections raised over the lack of prior notice. However, HYDRAA clarified that protecting government land from illegal sale and occupation is a priority, and the operation continued without interruption.
HYDRAA’s Stand on Government Land Protection
HYDRAA reiterated that illegal plotting and sale of government land will be treated seriously and strict action will be taken wherever violations are found. The authority emphasized that such operations are aimed at safeguarding public assets and preventing land scams.
With the latest action in Ghatkesar, HYDRAA has once again sent a clear message that encroachments on government land will not be tolerated.
