“I Will Not Hide in a Bunker”: Revelation About Ali Khamenei After His Death

According to Lahi, Khamenei believed that as the leader of the nation, he should share the same fate as his people rather than seek special protection for himself.

New Delhi / Tehran: Fresh revelations have surfaced following the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, shedding light on his decision to remain in Tehran despite security threats during military attacks.

According to reports, security officials had advised Khamenei to move to a secure location or take shelter in a bunker during the attacks carried out by the United States and Israel on Tehran. However, the Iranian leader reportedly declined the suggestion and chose to stay in the capital.

The details were revealed by the Supreme Leader’s representative, Abdul Majid Hakim Lahi, while speaking at the India Today Conclave held in New Delhi.

Lahi said that when he asked security officials why Khamenei was not being moved to a safer location, they told him that the Iranian leader himself had refused to leave the city.

Quoting Khamenei, Lahi said the leader had remarked that he would only take shelter if the same protection could be provided to the people of the city. “If you can move the 90 million people of Tehran to safe locations and build 90 million bunkers for them, then I will also go into a bunker,” Khamenei reportedly said.

According to Lahi, Khamenei believed that as the leader of the nation, he should share the same fate as his people rather than seek special protection for himself.

He further revealed that Khamenei often told his family members that if he chose to live a privileged life separate from ordinary citizens, he would not deserve to continue as the leader of the country.

Lahi also said that the Iranian leader had no fear of death and had expressed a desire to die like a hero. A few months before the incident, Khamenei reportedly told him that he feared dying in a hospital bed or due to illness and instead wished to meet his end like a warrior.
