The visit came just days after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire following the successful execution of Operation Sindoor, a major anti-terror operation carried out by Indian forces. The operation targeted high-value terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
A Morale Boost for Indian Soldiers
At the airbase, the Prime Minister interacted with the soldiers, commending their bravery and valor. According to sources, the soldiers found the visit to be a significant morale booster. The Prime Minister’s presence was said to uplift the spirit of the troops, who were seen smiling and standing tall in their combat uniforms, a symbol of their unwavering readiness.
Sharing his experience on X, PM Modi wrote:
“Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination, and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation.”

Adampur Airbase Targets of Pakistan’s Retaliatory Strike
Adampur Airbase had been one of the key targets of Pakistan’s retaliatory attempt during the night of May 9 and 10, following India’s precision strikes on terrorist infrastructure across the border. However, Pakistani drones and missiles were intercepted and neutralized by India’s air defense systems, demonstrating the preparedness and effectiveness of the Indian armed forces.
PM Modi Commends Armed Forces for Precision in ‘Operation Sindoor’
PM Modi’s visit also coincided with his recent address to the nation, where he commended the armed forces for the successful execution of Operation Sindoor. He praised the operation for achieving its objectives with precision and resolve, adding,
“I salute the armed forces, Intelligence agencies, and scientists for their grit that helped Operation Sindoor achieve its objective.”
A New Chapter in India’s Counter-Terrorism Strategy
Reaffirming India’s renewed commitment in its fight against terrorism, PM Modi highlighted that Operation Sindoor was dedicated to the nation’s collective spirit, with a special mention of the women of India, whose safety and honor formed the core of the mission.
The Prime Minister made it clear that the operation had sent a strong message to terrorist organizations and their backers: any attack on India or its citizens would be met with decisive and powerful retribution. He said,
“The world has seen India’s capability and it is clear terrorists will no longer be spared.”
PM Modi emphasized that Operation Sindoor marks a new and unwavering chapter in India’s counter-terrorism strategy—one that is relentless, precise, and uncompromising. He also stressed that India’s military carried out highly targeted strikes on terrorist hideouts in Pakistan, reinforcing the country’s resolve to protect its citizens and uphold its national values.
