CM Revanth Reddy says Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind works for unity between minorities and majority, announces law to curb hate speech at Hyderabad programme.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has played a key role in promoting unity between minorities and the majority in India. He was speaking as the chief guest at a programme organised by Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind at Shamshabad Metro Classic Gardens in Hyderabad.

Role of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind in Freedom Struggle

CM Revanth Reddy recalled that Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind was among the organisations that actively participated in India’s freedom struggle, calling its contribution commendable. He said the organisation continues to work for social harmony without discrimination between communities.

Support During Malkajgiri Lok Sabha Elections

The Chief Minister said Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind had voluntarily supported him during his Malkajgiri Lok Sabha election campaign, helping him travel from grassroots localities to Delhi. He noted that both Hindus and Muslims voted together, enabling his victory and entry into Parliament.

Minority Support Behind Congress Government

Revanth Reddy stated that the Congress government in Telangana was formed with the strong support of minorities. He highlighted that the party has given opportunities to minority leaders at both national and state levels.

Minority Representation in Congress

  • Leaders like Salman Khurshid and Mohammed Patel rose to top positions
  • Minority leaders such as Azharuddin and Shabir Ali were given MLA tickets
  • Minorities appointed as chairmen of eight corporations in the state

He said that even after losing elections, Azharuddin was made an MLC and later a minister, reflecting Congress’s inclusive approach.

Call for Minority Candidates’ Victory in Municipal Polls

CM Revanth Reddy urged minorities to ensure the victory of minority candidates in municipal elections, stating that responsibility comes with the opportunities provided by the party.

Law to Curb Hate Speech

Announcing a major step, the Chief Minister said the government will introduce a law to curb hate speech in the upcoming Assembly session. He stressed that controlling hate speech is essential for social harmony and development.

Focus on Education and Reservations

Revanth Reddy advised minorities to give top priority to education. He recalled that former CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy had introduced 4 per cent reservation for minorities, which is currently under consideration by the Supreme Court.

He assured that:

  • Minority population data was included during the caste census
  • The government will submit the minority census in court
  • Efforts will continue to ensure implementation of 4 per cent reservation

He said many people benefited with jobs due to reservations provided by the Congress government.

Law and Order Key for Development

The Chief Minister said law and order is crucial for attracting investments and overall development. He remarked that no one can remain in power forever and urged everyone to work together for the country’s progress.

The Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind Hyderabad programme attended by CM Revanth Reddy highlighted the Congress government’s focus on communal harmony, minority welfare, education, and constitutional values in Telangana.
