Jolt to BRS as GHMC Deputy Mayor decides to join Congress
Ahead of Parliament elections, the BRS party has received another setback in Hyderabad with its GHMC Deputy Mayor Srilatha Shobhan Reddy deciding to join the Congress party.
Hyderabad: Ahead of Parliament elections, the BRS party has received another setback in Hyderabad with its GHMC Deputy Mayor Srilatha Shobhan Reddy deciding to join the Congress party.
The Deputy Mayor and her husband Shobhan Reddy, who is now the president of BRS party State labhour wing, on Saturday announced their resignation from the BRS party’s primary membership.
Both are likely to join the Congress party in presence of AICC Telangana in-charge Deepadas Munshi in Hyderabad on Sunday.
According to party sources, along with Deputy Mayor Srilatha, another six BRS Corporators from GHMC are likely to join the Congress party.
Meanwhile, former GHMC Mayor and ex-MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy also decided to join the Congress party. BRS leader Teegala Krishna Reddy and his daughter-in-law and Rangareddy ZP chairperson Teegala Anitha Reddy paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at his residence here and expressed their interest to join the Congress party.
On other hand, former MLC and senior Dalit leader D Rajeshwar Rao called on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and decided to join Congress. (NSS)
