Addressing the media at the Ministers Quarters in Hyderabad, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said certain social media platforms and posts were mentally harassing him by spreading harmful rumours. He added that those behind such actions would ultimately face consequences for their behaviour.
Questioning the criticism, he asked whether it was wrong for officials to sit with him during review meetings in his capacity as district minister.
“I Have Been Elected Six Times,” Says Komatireddy
The minister reminded critics that he has been elected six times, stressing that constant negative news can push people into despair. Speaking with visible emotion, he said he was already coping with the personal loss of his son, and such attacks only added to his pain.
“I understand the pain of others. If you think you can make me cry, try it—I am already grieving,” he said.
Condemns Targeting of Female Officers
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy strongly condemned the deliberate targeting of female officers on social media and some platforms. He said irresponsible reporting and online commentary were creating unnecessary mental pressure on officers and their families.
He clarified that:
- IAS officer transfers are decided by the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary
- Ministers do not have the authority to transfer IAS officers
- Transfers are a routine part of administrative careers
Appeal to Media and Social Media Users
Urging restraint, the minister appealed to media and social media users to think about the families of officers, including women officers, before spreading unverified information.
“Is it wrong for women to pursue their careers?” he asked, questioning the purpose behind creating chaos and harassment.
Steps Away from Film Industry After Pushpa Controversy
Komatireddy, who also holds the Cinematography portfolio, said he has distanced himself from the film industry following the controversy related to the movie Pushpa. He stated that he had stopped permissions for premium screenings.
He clarified that he was not aware of files related to ticket pricing and permissions for films such as Raja Saab and movies involving Chiranjeevi, adding that those government orders were issued without his knowledge.
“I have shifted my focus away from the film industry and have no plans to return,” he said.
