Taking to social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), KTR questioned the government’s priorities and the human cost behind beautification drives aimed at impressing international visitors.
“Do You Have a Contract with Bulldozer Companies?” – KTR Asks Rahul Gandhi
In a sharp message directed at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, KTR wrote:
“What’s behind this incessant drive to destroy people’s homes & livelihoods? Why are demolitions being carried out in Warangal?”
He further accused the government of acting in collusion with private interests:
“Do you have a secret contract with bulldozer companies?”

KTR Condemns “Vanity Projects” and Public Expenditure on Miss World
KTR criticized the Congress government’s lavish spending on events surrounding the Miss World pageant, including a lavish ₹200 crore expenditure for hosting international guests while neglecting core public concerns.
“After lavish dinners at palaces and spending ₹200+ crores of public money on vanity, you had to resort to crumpling poor lives under your monstrous bulldozers?” he posted.
He called the demolitions a “travesty” and labeled the Congress government “shameless” for prioritizing appearances over citizens’ welfare.
Miss World 2024: Congress Faces Backlash Over Prioritizing Pageantry Over Promises
The BRS is increasingly targeting the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government for its handling of the Miss World event, especially in the backdrop of unmet election promises and fiscal constraints.
Notably, CM Revanth Reddy had earlier admitted that the state government is short of funds to meet employee salary revisions and welfare schemes—prompting criticism over spending on the pageant.
Miss World Contestants Hosted at Lavish Dinner in Hyderabad
On Tuesday, the state government hosted a royal dinner at Chowmahalla Palace in Hyderabad for Miss World contestants from over 109 countries. CM Revanth Reddy, his family, ministers, and bureaucrats were in attendance.
Following the event, contestants participated in a heritage walk at Charminar and shopped at Laad Bazaar before heading to Warangal on Wednesday for the next leg of the international event.
Beauty Pageant Continues Amid Political Controversy
The Miss World 2024 pageant, which began on May 10, will conclude on May 31 in Telangana. However, the event is now caught in a political storm as opposition leaders question the government’s spending priorities, displacement of citizens, and neglect of core governance issues.
