KTR Accuses Congress of ‘Murdering Democracy’
Reacting strongly to the ruling on the defected MLAs, KTR said the Congress has “murdered democracy on the floor of the Assembly.” He alleged that the decision once again exposed the Congress party’s disregard for constitutional values and the authority of the judiciary.
According to KTR, the episode proves that the Congress leadership has no real respect for the Constitution, despite public posturing.

‘Holding the Constitution for Photos Is Not Enough’
Taking a direct swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, KTR said that merely holding a copy of the Constitution for photographs does not amount to respecting it.
He remarked that Rahul Gandhi would be remembered as a leader who failed to uphold the Anti-Defection Law, which was originally introduced by his father, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
Allegations of Double Standards on Defections
KTR accused the Congress of double standards, stating that the party is shielding MLAs who have openly admitted to defecting in the name of “development.”
He alleged that the Congress is deliberately avoiding the disqualification of defected MLAs out of fear of facing by-elections.
Fear of Anti-Incumbency Behind Delay: KTR
The BRS leader claimed there is growing anti-incumbency sentiment across Telangana villages, particularly against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s two-year rule, with Panchayat elections approaching.
“The people of Telangana clearly understand that the Congress is delaying action against defectors because it fears public backlash,” KTR said.
Speaker Acted Under Congress Pressure: BRS
KTR expressed anger that the Congress has been making a mockery of the Constitution at every step, starting from the Chief Minister personally visiting BRS MLAs’ homes to encourage defections, and now influencing the Speaker’s decision.
He alleged that the Speaker acted under pressure from the Congress leadership, ignoring the spirit of Supreme Court judgments and the provisions of the Anti-Defection Law.
BRS to Strongly Oppose the Ruling
The BRS Working President said the Speaker’s decision was undemocratic and unconstitutional, and affirmed that the BRS party strongly opposes the ruling.
He added that the party would continue to fight against what it sees as an assault on democratic principles and constitutional morality.
