KTR Slams Revanth Reddy Govt Over Farmer Deaths, Demands ₹25 Lakh Compensation
KTR criticises Revanth Reddy government over farmer deaths in Telangana, demands ₹25 lakh compensation after a farmer died at a maize procurement centre in Gadwal district.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao has strongly criticised the Congress government in Telangana, alleging that more than 750 farmers have died in the last two years under its rule while Chief Minister Revanth Reddy remained indifferent to their suffering.

Reacting on social media platform X on Wednesday, KTR said it was deeply tragic that a farmer named Jammanna collapsed and died of a heart attack at a procurement centre due to the lack of clear instructions for crop purchase.

Farmer Dies at Procurement Centre in Gadwal
KTR said the incident took place at the Kalukuntla maize procurement centre in Manavapadu mandal of Gadwal district, holding the Chief Minister directly responsible for the situation.
According to KTR, the farmer’s death highlights the failure of the Congress government to ensure timely maize procurement, forcing farmers to wait helplessly at purchase centres without guidance.
‘Congress Govt Sacrificed Farmers’ Lives’
The BRS leader alleged that despite the maize crop drying for four days, the government failed to initiate procurement.
He said:
- Farmers are being pushed into suicide due to mounting debts
- Tenant farmers are ending their lives due to lack of compensation for crop losses
- Farmers are again facing trouble this season due to shortage of urea
- Faulty and ineffective apps are worsening farmers’ problems
KTR remarked that what was once ten years of peaceful farming has now turned into “tears and distress” for the agricultural community.
Agriculture Sector in Deep Crisis: KTR
KTR accused the Revanth Reddy government of pushing the entire agriculture sector into a severe crisis, stating that this “sin will not go unpunished”.
He urged the Chief Minister to at least wake up now and address the plight of farmers waiting at procurement centres across the state.
Demand for ₹25 Lakh Compensation
Terming Jammanna’s death as a result of government negligence, KTR demanded:
- 💰 ₹25 lakh compensation to the bereaved family
- Immediate steps to streamline crop procurement
- Urgent relief measures to prevent further farmer deaths
He said the responsibility for the farmer’s death lies squarely with the Chief Minister and his administration.
