LPG Booking Cyber Fraud Alert in Hyderabad: Police Warn Against Fake Gas Cylinder Ads

Hyderabad Police issue LPG booking cyber fraud alert as scammers circulate fake gas cylinder ads and phishing links promising instant delivery.

Hyderabad: Amid growing concerns about LPG cylinder availability in Hyderabad, the city police have issued a cyber fraud alert related to LPG booking scams. Hyderabad Commissioner of Police VC Sajjanar warned citizens about fake gas cylinder booking advertisements and phishing links that are targeting people searching online for LPG refills.

Authorities said cybercriminals are taking advantage of the Hyderabad LPG shortage concerns by circulating fraudulent messages promising immediate gas cylinder delivery in exchange for advance payments.

Hyderabad Police Warn About LPG Booking Cyber Fraud

According to the advisory issued by Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar, scammers are using social media platforms and messaging services to promote fake LPG booking advertisements.

These advertisements falsely claim:

  • Instant gas cylinder delivery
  • Priority allocation of extra LPG refills
  • Emergency cylinder supply for advance payment

Police clarified that such claims are clear signs of cyber fraud linked to LPG booking in Hyderabad.

Cybercriminals are also spreading phishing links through WhatsApp and SMS messages that lead to fake websites designed to look like official LPG company portals.

When users enter their personal details on these fake websites, criminals can gain access to:

  • Bank account information
  • Debit and credit card details
  • UPI credentials and OTPs

This can lead to financial fraud and unauthorized withdrawals from victims’ bank accounts.

Book LPG Cylinders Only Through Official Companies

Hyderabad Police have advised citizens to book LPG cylinders only through authorized channels of official gas companies.

Residents should use the verified platforms of the following companies:

  • Indian Oil Corporation – Indane LPG
  • Bharat Petroleum – Bharatgas
  • Hindustan Petroleum – HP Gas

Bookings should only be made through official websites, mobile apps, or authorized gas agencies.

Never Share OTP or UPI PIN

Police have strongly warned citizens not to share sensitive banking information with unknown individuals.

Important details that must never be shared include:

  • OTP (One Time Password)
  • UPI PIN
  • Debit or credit card details
  • Bank account information

Entering these details on fake websites can result in bank accounts being compromised and money being stolen by cybercriminals.

Report LPG Booking Cyber Fraud Immediately

Authorities have urged residents to report LPG booking cyber fraud in Hyderabad immediately if they encounter suspicious messages or become victims.

Citizens can report cybercrime through:

  • National Cyber Crime Helpline – 1930
  • Online complaint through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal

Quick reporting can help authorities freeze fraudulent transactions and increase the chances of recovering lost money.

The Hyderabad LPG booking cyber fraud alert issued by police highlights the growing misuse of social media and messaging platforms by scammers targeting citizens during periods of high demand for gas cylinders.

Hyderabad Police have urged residents to remain cautious, verify information, and avoid making advance payments for LPG cylinders through unverified online links.
